A: The museum was established on June 14, 1994.
Q: Is the museum affiliated with
any historical association?
A: Yes, the museum is a member of the Council
Interpreting North County History (CHINCH) which includes: the San Dieguito Heritage Museum, the
Encinitas Historical Society, the Carlsbad Historical Society
Museum, Carrillo Ranch Inc., the Oceanside Historical Society,
Mission San Luis Rey, the Heritage Park Village Museum, Rancho Santa
Margarita y Las Flores, the Fallbrook Historical Society, Rancho
Guajome Adobe, the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum, the Rancho
Buena Vista Adobe, Mission San Antonio de Pala, the Heritage Walk
Museum, San Pasqual Battlefield State Historical Park, and Rancho
los Penasquitos.
Q: Who runs the museum?
A:
The museum is run by members of the Vista Historical Society.
Q: How much do I pay for museum
admission and tours?
A:
Nothing. We are a non-profit organization. Admission and tours
are free. Donations are appreciated.
Q: When is the museum open?
A:
The museum is open every Wednesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m., or by special appointment.
Q: What programs does the museum
offer?
A:
We offer: a historic walking tour of downtown Vista; outreach
through carnivals, community days and open houses; speakers;
internships that allow college students to earn college credit; a
non-circulating library with extensive publications on Luisenos
Missions and Rancho history; a holiday tea; the Vista Hall of Fame;
and an annual luncheon.
Q: Can I volunteer at the museum?
A:
Yes! We are constantly in need of volunteers.
Q: Is the museum affiliated with the Vista city government?
A:
The museum is not government affiliated. We are a non-profit organization - 501 3(C).
Q: Can I do my research in the museum?
A:
Students, scholars, genealogists, and the wonderfully
curious are always welcome to do their research in the museum. Our entire
collection and all of our resource material files are available for use. A
photocopy machine and a scanner are located inside the museum. A donation will
be requested to offset electrical costs.

Museum Website will be utilized primarily to enhance visitor
enjoyment and experience. The Vista Historical Society and Museum

information to contact visitors who directly initiate communication
with the Vista Historical Society and Museum. For example, to
provide a requested online newsletter sent via e-mail. The Vista
Historical Society and Museum provides visitors with an option to
unsubscribe from future online e-mail newsletters. Personal
information submitted by visitors will never be used for marketing
and promotional purposes relating to non-historical websites,
properties, or businesses. We will not rent, sell, or exchange your
e-mail address with a third party for any purpose. The Vista
Historical Society and Museum reserves the right to modify, alter or
otherwise update this policy at any time so visitors are encouraged
to review this policy from time to time.
